Jupiter and LPV star RT Cygni

Last Friday night/Saturday morning (27/28th Aug) was a very clear sky up at Austerfield! The Milky-way was so bright, and stretched from horizon to horizon. The constellations became almost unrecognisable due to the hoards of fainter stars on show. Early in the morning, I webcamed Jupiter and three of it's moons and because the sky was so clear, the planet looked remarkable with fine cloud details. Moments after capturing this image, Io vanished. It wasn't until I got home, did some research and found that the moon had moved into Jupiter's shadow. Meanwhile in the the other Dome, Bryan took this shot of the Long Period Variable RT Cygni. This star varies is brightness from magnitude 6 to 13 in periodic cycle and is the brightest star here at magnitude 7! The image is 10x8 arc mins in area and all the small blobs are very faint stars that you would struggle to see with a telescope!
